Misinformation on parts
A couple of days ago, I responded to a question on leaky injectors.
I had ordered a "O" ring repair kit on the Advance auto online store.
It came this morning. What a disappointment.
It has O rings for only two injectors. The ad online doesn't say that.
I just called the local Ford dealership where I bought the truck in 94.
They have them for $1.00 a piece.
My online experience cost me 13.99 plus 8.00 shipping.

there must be an international dealer in your area somewhere or at least an injection shop that could have gotten you the injector installation kit for your model truck. If you go to international shops just tell them its for the 7.3 engine. stay away from the ford dealership as they tack on another 100 bucks to everything they sell. I've bought the install kit for about 60 bucks. and comes with o rings, fuel line and plastic caps.

I've been wondering about these "kits". How necessary is it to replace the plastic "caps" (collars would be a better description IMO, but whatever).
If they aren't cracked, why can't ya' just re-use them? Re-use the spring clamps for the hoses too. Then all you'd need would be sixteen # 111 o-rings and about 4 or 5 feet of 3/16 ID fuel line.
Those two items ought to cost you about 10 bucks at just about any auto parts place....

Went the re-use route on both my 91' and 93'. Just bought 16 orings from the local Ford Dealer and 8 ft 5/16" of fuel hose from Lordco Autoparts. Cost me about $25 per truck.
You just need to be a little bit careful not to damage the plastic fittings, they can stand a lot of abuse but will break if you are too rough with them.
Make sure you get all the hose bits the right length the the caps sit squarely on the injectors without being pushed to one side too much.

Replace the plastic caps every time.... once they are over heated they can slightly distort but still stay sealed, once you disturb them the old or new Oring may not seal.

My caps have over 300,000 miles on them.
Countless O rings and return hoses have been in and on them.
Still seal like the day they were new, but I do replace the O rings and return lines more than I need to as PM.

In order for the caps to get that hot, the injectors would have to be REALLY hot, wouldn't they? From what I've read that is really the whole purpose of the return system - to cool the injectors.
