Question '50 F-1 Assembly Question

After 1 1/2 years my '50 F-1 is out of paint and ready for re-assembly. Is it best to start with the rear bed and rear fenders or from the front and work to the rear?

I would look at the order of disassembly that you used. Assuming that the chassis/drivetraine is assembled, I would set up the cab first followed by the front sheet metal and then the bed. Sounds easy doesn't it! I plan to do a complete fitup of my F-1 while in primer this winter since a lot of my front sheet metal has been replaced since I disassembled the truck. The front sheet metal fitup should be the most challanging. I would not do it alone with the sheet metal in final paint.

The sequence I followed is a follows:

I mounted the cab first because you have six diffinate mounting points.

Then I loosely bolted the radiator support, the the inner fender panels, grill, fender tops, fender bottoms. After making sure everything fit I tightened everything.

After the cab and front clip then the box and rear fenders, again not tightening anything. Then mount the running boards. Use the running boards to line up the box by bolting to the frame brakets, front fender and then the rear fenders.

I also made sure everything lined up while still in primer just in case something got knocked out of whack during the metal patching. Also if you used parts from different trucks a lot of times the parts are aren't exactly the same from one truck to another so you might have to make adjustments which are a pain if the parts are in final paint. From what you said it sounds like this doesn't pertain to your situation.
