Hydraulic Assist Steering

Does anyone know how to drill and tap a '78 bronco steering box to accept hydrrulic assit steering???

Was not aware that 78's were available without power steering.

Sorry it is power steerring but i would like to know how to drill and tap my steering box to accept lines to put in a hydaulic ram on my steering linkage.

Assuming the OEM pump produces enough pressure to accomplish this, I would imagine you could split the high pressure output at the existing fitting. Not sure what you would use to regulate the movement of the ram unless you have a kit that supplies the necessary parts.

I would be concerned that the OEM pump may not be capable of performing double duty effectively.

looking at the photos I think those fittings are a Tee not an elbow so you would not need to try to tap into the hydrrulic ports on the gear box. I would call the phone number on the sight they would know for sure

You could also try the offroad and 4x4 forum, I know at least a few of the guys down there have done this on their trucks.
