as I go on with my resto-rod project I often stumble over new problems, but I guess that is the name of the game :-))
Last thing I discovered: The wipers ( with motor and linkage) that the previous owner installed ( probably from a Mini Cooper) will not work because this set-up was designed for a flat window. The wipers are working on a different plane than the split-window.
So I will have to install a different system, maybe going back to a single wiper-motor.
Any suggestions?
Is there a ready made system available somewhere aftermarket in 12V?
Newport Engineering makes a set up for your truck to allow two wipers, one in the original hole, and one added to pass side. You probably no longer have an original hole, so any of the aftermarket street rod set ups may be your best bet. Can you build a "stand" for the ones you have to set at correct angle? Joe
We put a set of wipers on our 1941 a bit over a year ago. I'll have to check the company and price when I get home later today, but I do know they have a website (or use to).
Our truck orig came with just the 1 wiper on the drivers side. This kit runs under the dash to connect a passanger side wiper and the wipers can be set to run the same way, opposite so you can stop them both in the middle or both off to the side.
The Newport kit is the one I got for my forty one. It's called 'clean sweep' and comes with the necessary templates etc for adding the second wiper, and it fit under the dash in the original wiper motor position so as not to interfer with any potential A/C setups etc.
I used the specialty Power Windows setup on my '34 sedan. Think I'll like the Newport better.
Mike, I've got a 59A flatty bored to 250 with a dual pot Edmunds and two Stromberg 97's. It's running dual exhaust out of a pair of original Fenton headers and stainless Magnaflow mufflers. The 97's are topped with a pair of original Edmunds oil bath air cleaners that have been retroed to dry elements. I just picked up a pair of Edmunds heads that need some work but they should be in action by Christmas. This unit is in a 1940 Ford pickup that I bought in 1988 at a garage sale of all places. It ran but I completely rebuilt the engine anyway. By the way, the 59A was in the truck when I got it and it had been refit with early 60's front brakes and shock brackets front and rear. The front has been lowered via a 4" drop axle and I massaged the spindle brackets for clearance. All work with the exception of engine machining has been done in my shop. Didn't mean to write a book but when anyone asks , I jump on it. Steve
