Here is a picture of a very nice 1946, taken last weekend at our local hot rod show in Grants Pass, Oregon. The owner is local too. It is the same truck I mentioned under the welt post, that had fender welting at the cowl.

nice one
Fender welt at the cowl, but smoothed away at the grill. It looks great.
I expected the welded and smoothed grill and fender connections to make the front end look like fiberglass. It actually looks good. Maybe on the next truck I will try something like that. Too far along on this one to change now.
The radiator cover/hood latch mount looks modified. Did you happen to notice why? Does it have a wider radiator?
I almost modified mine in a similar way, but decided to cut the Ranger core support instead. It now bolts in from the sides of that panel and is completely hidden.
I really like the front bumper stubs. I've been thinking about what to do with my bumper (or the lack thereof) since I bought the thing.
I've got to get to some car shows. There will be one within an hour of me this month, but I imagine mine will be the only truck there. (population 650).
I guess I need to do some traveling. Does any one go to The Hill climb in Newport IN? That one is within two hours of me, and is always great fun.
Sorry, I might have just hijacked your thread.

Threads like this are made for hijacking, no problem. Good eye on the radiator cover. In the picture it is hard to see, but with some metal fab there are two wings that have been added out to the side, for a different, wider and shorter radiator. I wish I had looked at that area closer. The radiator is an OEM type, but what type I'm not sure. It seems like when talking to the owner last year he said it was from a mustang, but in glancing at it it looked like maybe an early F-100. One of my many wishes is to replace the stock radiator with a shorter, lighter unit.
Radiator
I never thought about your radiator. Are you using the stock 46, or did you find something else that fit?
The mustang seems likely.
Once I removed the factory radiator support from my 46 there was plenty of room for the factory Ranger radiator. I just had to remove the original mounting tabs that were on the sides, and mount it from the top instead. I would guess that a mustang radiator would fit as well.
The salvage yard here has a whole rack of radiators. It makes it easy to measure them to see what will fit. If you had a similar yard they would probably let you look around and take some measurements.
The only problem I have with my radiator is that it sits pretty high in the grille (the frame rails keep it from going lower). I would have liked for it to be centered more so that it could work better, but it's gonna leave all kinds of room for the intercooler.

It is a stock 46 rad for a 2 ton, 4 rows. Same dimensions as for 1/2 tons, except a little thicker. It would be excellent for a flathead V-8, since they can run hot, but it has too much cooling capacity for my setup. Temp will not go above 160 unless stopped, or traveling above 65 mph while outside temp is above 90. With outside temps below 75, it never will go above 160 unless stopped, or if I was on the highway going probably 80 (which I havent done). It has a new Robert Shaw all brass and copper 180 degree thermo.
