I just removed mine and painted it, last weekend. 1st you have to remove the plastic "shrouding" that is over the headlights and across the top ( should be 8 or 9 5.5mm bolts). 2nd the grill surround must come off, it is held in by 6 clips above the bumper (start at one end and start pulling it out, it might help to remove a headlight to see what you are dealing with). 3rd the grill is held to the surround by clips (use a hairdryer to soften them up, so you don't break them). Take your time, and it will work. If you are careful, you can do it without breaking any of the clips but if one breaks its no big deal.

lol. I figured it out after a little effort. It was bolted on, some little screws came out of the back of the emblem and two cheapie nuts held it down. Mine were more than worn out and stripped.
Hammer + foot long steel cylinder = no more emblem. I just glued it back on.
