Here's a stroker kit for the ohv 4.0, it takes it up to 4.5, that could be a serious torque, and power increase. The kit is 2,500, and the short block is 3,500, really not a bad price. Go to www.moranav6racing.com, hit morana products, and then hit 4.0L products. Now, if they would just do something like that for us sohc guys, it's cheaper than an EE super charger, and would be more dependable.
Also supersix motorsports has some stuff for the 4.0 sohc now, with the mustang now using our motor, there should be some good stuff in the pipeline. I heard the mustang was going to the 3.5 in 08, I haven't heard if the ranger will, but I dout it.
Is'nt anybody else excited that thier finally doing some real performace products for our trucks even if you can't afford it, or don't want it. It is a big step forward for us offroaders, because stroker kit = torque, thats more important than hp, but you can have both, it's a win win. It would be better if it was free of course. For those who are allways crying because the ranger doesn't come with a v8, for 3,500 you can have v8 power, and torque in the light weight 4.0 engine.
Looks good. I'm glad to see that the Cologne OHV has not been completely forgotten,. However, I can't find any information about the performance gains that can be expected...?
Holy crap wendell! I just looked at the Super Six Motorsports website, and I am amazed! I was thinking about a V8 swap in the future, but now I want to keep my 4.0. I sure am happy that Ford decided to put the 4.0 in the mustangs, that really opens doors for us ranger guys. Thanks a bunch for providing the info.
Don't worry fellows, if there's a performance upgrade to be had for our engines, I'll find it, and post it. I have been so impressed with 4.0 sohc, I believe the potental is just starting to be tapped, it allready has about the same hp as a stock 5.0, stroke it for more torque, plus you'll get more hp to boot. It would be better than a 5.0 because it would be a lighter package, unless you were looking for 500 hp or something. I wish they would post the expected gains, I guess I could contact them. If the 4.0 ohv, and 4.0 sohc have the same block, you would think it would work for the cammer as well, must be something different, well", the cammer kit can't be far behind, because of the mustang if nothing else. I predict great things are comming our way, stay tuned.
