Hello, I was looking under my truck (from the rear) the other day and noticed that the left wheel has more clearance from the frame than the right side.
If the proper rear axle is on the truck, how much space appoximately should there be between the end of the axle (interior hub) and the frame of the truck? And should one side have naturally less clearance than the other side. I will try to depict what I see under the truck here:

Yes, the differential in the axle is off center to the right, is that suppose to be? Thanks a lot.
Yup, the entire drive train, engine, transmission and rear differental are off center to the right by a couple of inches. Wierd huh! If you think thats strange take a look at the steering column placement on 61-64 F100s.

Actually, the 1971 steering column is in at an angle also (if that's what you mean). Go figure. It's good to know that I am not just imagining the rear axle off center. Now, is there a way to correct this situation? My tires rub sometime when I have a bed full of wood or drywall?
