Garage Cabinets - a most unlikely source
Hospitals are always undergoing rennovation and nearly every department uses heavy duty commercial grade cabinets. These are just trashed if not claimed. I picked up a bunch several years ago, including some deep well stainless steel sinks, for a pittance.
Whenever a construction signs goes up at the local hospital, check with the associate administrator that will be overseeing the project. Politely inquire as to what departments are to be remodeled and how to claim any cabinets being discarded. (Laboratories are the best, with lots of sinks and heavy cabinets)
The department head is a good contact person as they are easy to reach by phone, will know the contruction schedule and even which specific cabinets will be removed. Often times, they will just give them to you and you can claim them by writing your name and phone number on the tops of each unit you want with magic marker. (Claim jumpers abound when removal time comes, so be wary if they want you to put your name and TN on a piece of masking tape.)
You have to be able to move quickly when the call comes, they can't just put them aside in storage. They want them out of there and now. You just can't believe what sorts of things get thrown away during a major hospital rennovation.

I can. I work in a hospital. And your right. When remodeling time comes good stuff gets piled up by the dumpster. Chairs, tables, carpet, cabinets, desks, even computers and monitors. So I second the above post. If looking for cheap cabinets and funinshings for your shop it would be worth your time and effort to look into it.
