howdy folks
Nice forum you have here. I am an active member if the yahoo Fairlane forum nad it is always a kick to see what people are doing to and with their Ovals. Oh the 8N tractor page is good as well. All my truckas are Fords but this is related ot a friend struck. THe title (original) calls it a 12VN but we can't seem to find anything like that anywhere. It is a 1938 Ford Movie van. It loks like a modified bus thatwas used to haul the film gear and crew to locations. It is quite cool. I don't have a digital picture but will later this week(2/19/06) I am hoping ot find ANYONE that could give me a lead on tracking this down. Allegedly they only made 7 or 8 of these.
Thanks for the time
66ragger, welcome to the best Ford truck site around. Hopefully you'll be able to get the info you are looking for.
Just so I make sure I have this right, the van was used by Columbia Pictures? When you can post some pictures it would really help. There were a few different body manufactures around that converted Fords for bus use. Some, such as Proctor-Keefe took heavy panel trucks and added windows to them. Others use the cowl chassis arrangement and added the entire body from the windshield back.
But if the truck was actually used by Columbia Pictures you might try and contact them, perhaps they might be able to aid you in getting history. It would be a long shot, but a you never know.
Post those pictures when you can, would love to see them.
thanks for the reply (quick) how do I post the pictures. I'll be getting some pictures this afternoon an then stick em up. I think I can just scan the one picture and git er done! How do put the pictures up. Your 46 pick up clone sounds like a treat. Thsi was allegedly used by Columbia Pictures. I am attempting to locate a contact there as well becuse they surely have an archivist.

Vince, if possible, it's best to use another site to host your pictures, then give us the link here. Sometimes pictures in the threads can slow up some computers, like if using a dial up connection. Check out the 'User Gallery & Picture Display Help' forum a little further down the forums page. You'll find some options there.
You can also make a gallery, and let us know you put your pictures there, then we canfind them.
Hope to see that truck soon, sounds like a fun toy.

The title calls it a '38? That is a '37 Ford. The body manufacturer probably built it on a '37 chassis and titled it as a '38, but all the front sheetmetal is for sure '37 Ford sheetemetal. The grille of the '38 Ford is a barrell shape, kinda of oval, many call it a barrell nose. Still a very unique truck that must have an amazing history behind it. keep us posted on what you can find out about it.
thanks all I have been corrected on the year. I'll be sure to keep all posted. Next stop is Columbia Screen Gems archives to see if ANYONE there has any recollections of this type of truck. Rumor has it there were only 7 or so made and the owner wants to sell it. I have maore projects than I can handle in this life; if I don't get the 8n done.
