Question 56 Ford F-600

I just brought home a 56 F-600 with a winch operated dump bed. I was wondering if the fenders and cab are interchangable with a 56 F-100? Thanks

The cab is exactly the same. The F600 fenders will bolt on, but the wheel openings are significantly larger (and the fenders may be wider?).

My '60 F-600 has normal width fenders, but like you said, the wheel well is bigger. However, my '65 F-850 has WIDE fenders in addition to the larger wheel opening.

Sorry, can`t help beyond what has been said but wanted to say that it sounds like a neat truck. How about some pictures of it when you get time?

F250-600 use larger wheel openings and are interchangable. F100 is unique. Cab, inner fenders, hood, nose, etc are all interchangable. Big truck cabs usually have several extra holes in the dash for various controls, tach, etc.

Larger truck doors are made to accept the wider mirrors as used on dumps, they will still be fine on a F100 and a regular mirror used.

The cabs are the same. I took a '55 f100 cab and put it on my '56 f600. I have never heard of the doors being bigger. The metal may be thicker to support the heavy mirrors, but overall dimensions, I believe are the same. Fenders are interchangeable, f600 fenders would look very odd on a f100. I run 9.00x22.5 tires on front. Little 16 or 17 inchers would look lost in the big fender opening.

It is my understanding that the fenders on the F100 and F250 are the same. The fenders from the F350 through the F600 are the same. I think both of them are about the same width, just a difference in the wheel opening. The F750 and up are wider than the others.

what about grille width on the larger trucks. I've heard it rumored that some trucks had wider grilles, but I'm not believing it. They'd've stamped 'em all the same wouldnt they?

From what I can remember I think that the grilles are the same. It always seemed like the larger truck fenders stuck out farther on the sides making the grilles look about the same size.

It is my understanding that the grills are the same. Looking at the inner fenders, I would assume that the inners are all the same, the difference is in the outer skin.

I used the doors and grill from a 56 F600 on my panel truck. Around here, the F600's were used as grain trucks on farms. They are usually in much better shape than the pickups as the floor is higher off the ground and most of it's use was in the spring and the fall. The rest of the time the big trucks sat in the barns and weren't driven much in the winter.
Years ago, I parted out a 53 Chebby 2 ton truck. Found out that the brand X trucks had different grill, hoods, and inner fenders.
