I am rebuilding a 1952 F1. I just reassembled the door and I am currently working on the passenger doorlock. The key will lock and unlock the door, and I can take the key out of the lock when the door is locked. However, I can't remove the key from the lock when it is unlocked. Am I doing something wrong? Shouldn't you be able to remove the key when the door is both locked and unlocked?
No, I'm not doing that... actually was just playing with the lock and realized it was assembled wrong. The square stop that links the tumblers assembly to the lock mechanism has to free-turn for a half a turn, and it was assembled wrong. I took it apart and put it together correctly and it seems to be working fine now.
With the window down and the door shut reach in and use the handle to lock the door.
Then try unlocking it from the outside with the key.
You can't do it on the 48-50's, I'd like to know about yours.
