PCV Valve replacement

Its time (100K miles) to replace the PCV valve on my 4.0 2002 XLT. Questions:

(1) Does brand of PCV valve matter ?

(2) Where is the PCV valve located on the 2002 4.0 SOHC engine ?

Brand shouldn't much matter..thy're only about $5...Not sure on the 2002 where it's located..on my 2000 and on later models they are usually located on or near the valve cover...If u find the valve...shake it..if it doesn't rattle or is very dirty change it..

Why are two different looking PCVs listed in many online parts suppliers for the same 4.0 liter SOHC engine? This past Friday I was able to replace the PCV located at the back of the driver's side valve cover and connected into the upper manifold. It was an odd looking black plastic part made by Standard Automotive (V371), but I've also seen more conventional looking PCVs made by Motorcraft (EV268) that I understand from several posts in FTE should be located on the passenger side near the firewall. What's the story here? Are there two different PCVs or does it matter that my VIN is "K" and the engine is an "E"?
