OK gentlemen here's another header question.
I have a '65 2WD with a 302 V8 and I'm looking for someone who's been able to install FlowTech Model# 12500 FLT headers on this same combination.
Has anyone out been able to make this work?
It looks like the starter would be in the way.
The starter should not cause trouble with headers for a 302, the location did not change during its production. If the headers are for a newer 302(say late '80's and up), they used a smaller diameter starter that might also be shorter. It is a permanent magnet type starter which gives more power in a smaller package. What is the header application?
Sorry should have typed what I was thinking!! In '65 there was no 302 V8 available, so the headers are not specifically for a '65 F100 with a 302. What are the headers designed for?
It may be awhile. Next weekend I'm pulling the FMX transmission so I can install a torque converter with a 2000 stall. I'd just rebuilt this 302 and installed it last July.
It's alittle more motor than the stock converter can handle.
Then after that I'll tackle adding P/S to this little truck. Just acquired the hardest part to find and finally found it on ebay. Steering column. But it's a nice one. Tilt steering column out of a '78-'79 truck.
Thanks again Putt for the input and I will let everyone know whether or not these headers worked for me.
Holley is the parent company of Flowtech, Hooker, and few others. Purchased set of Hooker long tube headers and found easiest to lift engine a little, not much, to clear starter. Also had to grind small amount of material off cross member for header flange clearance. If intend to install exhaust system yourself may want to look at the Hedman offset extention tubes, handy for getting around crossmember.

Putt,
I did get these Flowtech headers to work. Had to trim a little off the passenger side motor mount bracket and a little off the crossmember that's directly behind the engine (meaning NOT the one that supports the rear of the transmission). This is my first set of headers and can't believe the difference in power/performance.
