I finally found 2 front "STEEL" fenders for my 48 F1. It's just the upper front fenders though, but you talk about good and soild. I couldn't turn them down for what they priced them to me for. I still need the bottom pieces for the fenders. What happened they seperated they fenders and sold them piece by piece. My goal is to have a all steel truck and I'm 2 pieces away from having it. I'm still looking for original 48-50 metal one's. But if it comes down to it, I know I can get them in fiberglass and I "think" I remember seeing them in reprint metal to. It's been a while since I have looked in my books in the fender section. But here's my question. How well will fiberglass or reprint metal lower halfs bolt up to or even line up with the original metal one's. Has anyone done this before. Is it even a good idea to bolt fiberglass to all that metal on the front. Or keep on looking for a good useable set. Let me know what you guys think. (Original Metal, Reprint Metal, or Fiberglass)
I see orignal ones sell on ebay for an F1 regularly. I have read that the fiberglass pieces can be a pain to fit and align.

Congratulations on your find-steel is real! A long time ago someone did advertise new 48-50 lower front fender extensions. I investigated and it was a dead end. Typically the joint between the upper and lower fender needs bodywork to get a good fit. As originally made these work trucks did not have good fit and finish. Keep an eye on ebay and post a wanted ad on this and bonusbuilt sites. Good lowers are at least as hard to find as good uppers. My uppers are NOS (bought a long time ago-20 years ago) but I had to metal repair and straighten two lowers.
Congrats on the find. Like Christopher2 said, they do come up on E-bay regularly. I did not see any on there right now, but that could easilychange. If I were you, I would try to find some original steel ones, but that's just me. Good luck.
While compiling a list of internet links for this site I came across a couple of companies that was making repop steel units. I can't remember which ones off the top of my head and I don't have the links here at home. I can check on Tuesday when I get back to work.
It might have been EMS Automotive, but don't quote me on that
I bought a set of reproduction fender bottoms on uPay about a year and a half ago. They were spot welded on a set of rusty fenders so I had to cut them off but they were in very good condition. These fender bottoms are not exactly like the originals, the outter skin is made from two pieces of metal, not one stamped piece. The outter piece is folded over and spot welded on the the inner piece. I am going to weld the pieces solid and fill them in.
The guy I bought them from got them from Sacramento Vintage Ford http://www.vintageford.com/. The part numbers on my parts are#08117 for the right and #08117-1 for the left. I looked on their site a while back and I only came up with the parts for the '51-2 trucks, those being #08117-2 $ #08117-3. Price is $145 each. I also think they were made by EMS, http://www.emsautomotive.com/ford.htm and were also sold on the site, http://shop.store.yahoo.com/super-st...2forpictr.html but are no longer availlable.
I have seen the lower fenders on ebay that you all are talkinf about. I bid on some to but they went for alittle more money than I could pay for them at the time. There is a guy I'm talking to know that is going to be putting some stuff on ebay in a week or 2 he said all 48-50 stuff fight know. But he told me he knew where 7 more trucks are at that he is looking at right now to try to buy. I have no idea what kind of shape they are in. But he is suppose to get back with me and let me know what kind of parts he will have and if any of the trucks are good enough to try and sale as whole trucks. He is going to let me know the years of them to. He talked like they was all 48-50 but there might be some 51 and up also. He did say 7 trucks though. I'd love to know where those are. If some of you guys are interested when he lets me know what he has, I can post it on here of the years and parts and send a message to you on how to get ahold of him. B/c I don't think he wants his email address out there until he knows for sure that he has the trucks and parts for sure. I'm going to get back with him later tonight so hopefully I will be able to let you guys know something. The way he talked to me and explained what he was going to try to do then he should have alot of decent parts to sale. I'm going to try to find some good useable lower fender sections like you all said. The last pair I seen on ebay went for $150 to $160 dollars I believe. I quess thats part of the fun to is looking for some of this stuff, paying for it all is the not so fun part. LOL! Thanks Scott
I hope we are not about to lose 7 restorable trucks to the parts farm.
I am not critical of him, if that is his business. I know that most of the time the parts are worth more then the whole unit.
I guess that is what makes these things more valuable, losing a few more each year.
I do love to see the old trucks on the road though.....
The guy got back with me today on the 7 trucks. He did buy one of them and he is sending me some pics of the lower front fender sections. I don't think he is buying all of them to part out. The ones he can buy and then resale to make money on he does that, but I quess he isn't afraid to part them out either. I'm like alot of you guys on here. I hate to see a good trucked that can be built go to the parting farm, but in return if it wasn't for some of the good ones getting parted out then we would have the good parts to put on ours. I'll be getting pics of one truck tomorrow so I'll let you guys know what he has as far as good parts.
