COE title value

Greetings folks

I have sold a cab and parts for a 1941 Ford COE, but still have the frame and the title. That is odd I know, but that is how it went, but now I'm being asked by another buyer about the frame and the title. I really haven't ever seen any data on that regarding value. Any ideas?? Are the title outfits that sell titles actually selling real titles, or something other?? Thanks for any help in advance.

It'd really depend on who wanted it...if I happen to sinkl 20G's into a COE rebuild and needed a title, I'd spend as needed.

If I just had a COE I wanted to use as a hauler in and out of town, my price would be small.

I'd probably start asking in the $500.00 range and see if you get any bites.

I just sold an extra title for a 47 Ford 3/4 ton truck for $50.00 to a guy that wanted to gt his truck on the road.
Far better to see the truck up and running and semi-legal, (it was a good title from a truck that I parted out), than waiting out for the greed factor.

I wonder what those title companies charge for a title?

Old Truck Title

I'm new to the forum, so I thought I'd make a comment in this thread. A while back (last summer) I bought a New York 1938 Ford truck title from an individual who buys/sells old titles (for my 1938 Ford COE truck). It cost me $120 - I went into my local DMV here in Florida with it and was able to acquire a Florida title, no problem. I contacted a company in Birmingham, Alabama and they will provide you with the "appropriate paper trail" for about $150. The vehicle must pre-1965 however.

All this title talk was making me think. In the states you guys are in, do they not do an inspection of the vehicle for the VIN number before issuing a new registration? I ask becasue here in California, if you don't have a title, you have to take the vehicle to the DMV or have a police agency look the vehicle over, verify the VIN is what you say, and then a new title and registraion issued. If I were to take one of these vintage titles to my DMV they would still require an inspection. So how does it work in your states?

Discussions/posting for sale of titles on other forums are prohibited. Probably for legal issues. Just saying.

Ed,
Assuming you live in the 509 area code, Washington state has a little known provision where if you have a vehicle on your property without papers, you can have a law enforcement officer come to your house and run the vin. Assuming it comes back clean, they will sign off on what's called a Junk Vehicle Affidavit, which allows you to sell, dispose or title the vehicle after it's made running and roadworthy and inspected. Print this form for your officer and have him fill it out. https://dol.wa.gov/forms/view/420549/download?inline

This will give you a legal title to your truck with the correct vin, not a title to someone else's truck and a mis-matched number.
