Mickey Thompson Classic II's / Factory SuperDuty Center Caps
I just trecently purchased a set of the Mickey Thompson Classic II's (17X9 ) for my 2004 F250. I am replacing the factory 16X7's that the Lariat pkg comes with. I dont Play in the mud, I go through what I have to too get where Im going. That being said, I put the closed center caps that were on the rear on the front to see if they would work and they did, just fine. I bought another set (2) and have been running all 4 closed caps for 30,000 miles now. Here is what Im wondering about. The factory caps are held on by tension from the plastic squeezing the actual lug nut, I think. Im wondering, the new wheels will probaly have a lug nut that is mostly inside the rim, if I get longer lug nuts that stick out from the rim, will my factory center caps work on the new wheel? Im not sure but I think this might look good, if it will work. I have also thought about painting the recessed Ford word and surrounding ring on that factory center cap. What do ya'll think?
i dont think they will because the lugs you get with M/Ts are alot longer and skinnier than the stock ones if you can find a shorter subsitute similar to stock you might make it work.
Didn't work, I think in order for it to work, you must use the factory lugs, which you cant do on these rims. You may be able to get some beveled, 2 piece lugs that would work though?
