Has anybody else had problems with the wastegate valve sticking on the Garrett turbo on the 6.0, or am I the only one to have to spend big bucks just to keep the #$%^&* running?
That is what Ford put on my stock 2003 6.0 and it has been nothing but trouble.
It has what is called ERTV. Something with electronically controlled turbo vanes. It also had the wastegate valve on it like I mentioned in my post. If you look at the turbo from the passenger side, it is right in the middle of the turbo between the exhaust and the intake wheels.
I am so disgusted with the 6.0 that I am going to put it up for sale. I have litterly put about $10,000 in add ons and repairs to this truck. I'm going back to a gasser if I can sell this one. I put it on www.autotrader.com under F-350 fords. Hopefully somebody else can use it. Lord knows it has a bunch of new parts in it.
Last stuff I did was to give it a performance intake system and a Flowmaster 4" exhaust from the turbo back..
Well if your going to stretch a story at least get it right. The 6.0L has a VGT (variable geometry turbo or EVRT) and any problem you have would covered under warranty. The VGT has no waste gate.
So your dealer is not that good or you need to get your facts straight.
No warranty. Truck has 145,000 on it and has had so many problems that it would take all night to list.
No more 6.0's for this man.
The 6.0's have sucked since they came out, and they still suck today.
The Ford parts man described the part as a wastegate actuator. I will get the part number.
Sorry if it ain't right wording. Maybe Ford don't know what to call it in their parts breakdown. Look at the picture and it shows it to be a wastegate actuator.
Oh well, I really don't care anymore. I am going to sell this truck and get out of diesel crap.
Forddeiselman.. I know the spelling is wrong on diesel here. I did it on purpose.
