I have an edelbrock 600 4 barrel on a 5 liter. I rebuilt a couple of years ago. For the past year or longer it seems like it wont idle consistantly. As an example I will pull into an parking lot and when i come out of the store and start it up it does not want to idle yet when I parked it was idleing fine.
I will set for a while before I take off trying to get it running smoothly but when I back out and put it in drive it will die. Someone said it may have dirt in it or the neeled valves, long skinny rods may be bent.
Also i know that there is a filter at the inlet but should a person also have a outside paper inline filter?
Yes, an inline filter is a must. The screen in the carb only catches big stuff.
It may be getting to hot and vapor locking. You mught need to install a heat shield under the carb.
