Hi guys. Glad to be on this forum. Don't know if I entered in the right department but we dirt race on 3/8-1/2 tracks have been whopped by some motorcraft carbs. I was told they were carbs that come off of late 60's early 70's trucks that even powered 429's. I was told they were1.21's. That is hard to believe it is big enough for the cubes. i am sure that they have been bored outsomewhere to make good for racing etc. Can someone give me some insight on this or is it all hogwash. Thanks
A little ways further down on the main forum page you'll find the carb forum.

Motorcraft carbs do work very well but as with most things in racing you have to hit the right combination. What kind of carb are you using now? What are you allowed to use? What are your engine rules?
Hello- Welcome to FTE! I have moved your post to the specialized forum we have here for your question. Check out the list of tech forums we have here. There is a wealth of information and expertise here to help you. There are a number of links in my sig below to help you also. Have fun!
Our rules imply that we can not run a block any bigger than 360 CI and no roller cams. We run a 347 stroker in one and a Chevy 355/383 in another and power them with *****'s probably flowing 625 or so. Depending on what track a person runs at if we have to have 1 11/16 or bigger butterflies. Supposed to be stock venturi but everybody hogs them out to 1.4 or so. Hoping we can do something with the motorcraft. I know thy can flow good if we would get the right combo especially for the 347.
Sounds like pretty open rules you have there.
The rules I have to play by are stricter. We have to run a 4412 with no mods other than removing the choke plate. Our carbs do get teched for venturi size so there's no hogging them out.
Hey, Racer Guy--If only we had good tech people here. Nobody here even knows how to check to see if the carb that won was a aersol carb. I believe I might hog out a motorcraft for any outlaw runs and keep running the *****'s maybe most of the time. You never know what may change a a track sometimes or tech people, depending on complaints. If you want to complain you have to put up $50 for them to listen. I don't believe that a 1.21 carb was ever put on a 429 as far as a 2-barrel. What was if they did for a 2-barrel maybe somebody else can tell us. Thanks for your comments.
