Replacing heater core on truck with air conditioner...
Hi,
I bought a 77 F-150, and the truck needs a new heater core. It has air conditioning, and the heater core appears to be in that big box thing on the right side. How do you get into that to swap heater cores? I don't have any experience with anything like this, but I'm pretty mechanically inclined. Is this a job I can handle, or should I leave it to a pro?
Replacing heater core on truck with air conditioner...
The Haynes repair manual says replacing a heater core on a truck with a/c is "beyond the scope of the home mechanic". The a/c components are right in the way of the heater core. I used a big screwdriver to hold the a/c component out of the way so I could access the heater core. You gotta be careful though so you don't mess anything up. My a/c never worked since I owned the truck, so I didn't care to take that chance.Good Luck!
