i have a 72 302, all stock, and a 87 crown vic 5.0,i am wondering,is it possibal to take all the EFI equipment of the 5.0 and put it on the 302,like both intake manifolds and like the pully system and such, thanx alot for all the help....
Sure, up to a point. The EFI components will bolt right on for the most part but be careful with the pulleys. You can swap everything but the harmonic balancer itself (and the crank pully may not bolt to your balancer.)
The 302/5.0 is externally balanced, and some of the balancing is handled by the harmonic balancer and the flywheel or flexplate. In '81 they changed the amount of imbalance so, even though they'll physically fit you can't use a post-'81 balancer or flywheel/flexplate on a pre-'81 or you'll induce a nasty vibration that will destroy your engine.
The good news there is that the 351W stayed with the old imbalance, they never changed it so you can use the newer balancer and flywheel or flexplate from a late model 351W if you want to go with a serpentine belt setup or a different transmission that's incompatible with your erlier stuff.
Having said all that, it's possible that the later pulleys will fit your '72. You'll just have to try it and see.
so if i find a newer 351 i can swap the pully's right over.....and the efi stuff will work.....kool thx,hey if there is any other stuff i can grab off that engine or car for that mater just hauler it over.....thx again
Grab whatever you can. If you've got the space for it, you never know what you might need down the road. If you're going to convert an older non-EFI vehicle to EFI, you'll need the computer, wiring harness(es) and all sensors. Then go here:
and read up on what's involved with the swap. You'll need a conversion harness as well. Painless makes 'em but they're a bit on the steep side pricewise and I'm not too impressed with the fit and finish of their products.
They offer them on the website I linked to above as well but my only knowledge of them is what another user says about them. He does speak rather highly of them, and it's a user who's opinion I trust so take a look at them.

Not so fast. This isn't all the way true. You need the timing cover from the fuel injected engine, and bolt it onto the non efi engine. The tensioner and the engine accessories need it to be so. You will need to use the intake manifold gasket set for the efi engine.
