Fraud alert: Online Truck sellers beware!
I have been selling my truck (www.68fordf100.com) and have been receiving emails from the UK where they are wanting to purchase the truck- NOW!I have posted a sample of the email I have received below. In addition, compare it with this website, which details this type of FRAUD- http://www.dcu.org/streetwise/march2005.html
You'll quickly see how they are able to get $1-3,000 pretty easily using those checks and having you send money to "their shipper"!
I hope this helps in not getting ripped off!
EMAIL FROM UK:
Thanks for the mail and i really appreciate your response I have
> interest in purchasing the Truck from you I'm ok with your stated
> condition alone with the price $12,500. I'm located in UK ,I will
> arrange for the shipper that will be coming for the pick up and they
> will be coming with some other consignment of mine. I will instruct my
> client to procure a certified cashier check of $15,500 and send it to

> includes shipping cost because i have other goods with the shippers).
> As soon as you received the check you will send the excess funds to

> Hope to hear from you soon.
> You're Blessed,
You want to be careful but you can have fun with them
1. Give them the name and address of the local FBI fraud investigation officer/office but tell them it's your personal address.
2. Tell them you will accept their check but it will take 6 months to clear before you can remit the refund.
3. Tell them you have a special rate to deal with BS and it will consume all of their payment.
4. email them a virus.
5. Tell them the truck is sold
6. Best thing to do is ignore them.

Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Never seen this particular scam, but haven't advertised much on the net. Pretty easy to catch anything wanting money to pass in the "wrong direction" isn't legit, as well as the old, "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is" axiom. Like my wife always says, someone like either of our moms might fall for this BS, and that's just sad. I hate scam artists. Make an honest living like the rest of us, you punks.
I had a really cool teacher in high school who had a saying about making an honest living. He said: I know people who clean out septic tanks for a living. When you ask them how they can stand to do that, their answer is, 'at the end of the day, that kind of crap washes off.' (except he didn't say crap). True 'dat!
The scammer didn't appreciate it, when I asked why they had a Nigerian e-mail, but wanted the Jeep in the UK?
