It's called the Nigerian scam, also known as a "419 scam". They send you a valid-looking over-payment check and want you to wire the overpayment amount back to them ASAP. When you cash their check, it takes several days for it to "clear", but it bounces back as a fraud. Since you've already sent them your money for the "overage", they have that and you're left holding their worthless check.
Don't sent them any personal information, and just ignore their inquiry. It's a very well known scam. Google "Nigerian scam" and you'll read all about how it works.
accept the payment tell them you will hold it until your bank releases the funds, if someone else offers cash I will accept it and hold 10% of your payment for my fees.
I played a guy a little bit and had him fed ex overnite me a bogus check.... oy did it look real...... Always wondered if a currency exchange type place woulda cashed it ......lol
Email them back and tell them you don't have a bank account, but there is a western union just down the street. They can wire you the cash and of course you will give the extra to the shipper.
