Post Best Lift Height and Tire/Rim Combination

Hey Everyone, I haven't posted in a while, mostly reading and getting some good tips and ideas from this forum. The last was how to get rid of tree sap: PINE SOLE.

Currently my 04 SC4x4 6.5 just sits there, nose down. I thought about adding the 2.5 daystar leveling kit and putting on 33" tires. So far that's as far as I've gotten. Also I don't like Ford's rims either, so they are gone. I prefer Mickey Thompson's "Classic Lock."

What combination would you people suggest, and if you have photos that would help even more. Nothing too outrageous either, I'm not an 18 yr old, but do want an aggressive stance without that ridiculous look...

Looking forward in all responses, and thanks for reading my post.

i think i want the leveling too for my 4x4. im thinking dropping to 17 inch wheels and adding something like the hummer h2 tires would look nice enough without getting too high or being really expensive.

Skyjacker is coming out with a lift for our trucks that lift it 3" front and 1" in the back that it under a $1000. It would be a great option for you Ted since you get everything lifted and doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

Take a look at my gallery, I have BF Goodrich MT with Pro-Comp revolution 17x8 wheels. Total package costs about 1,500. I have plenty of wheel travel and a solid agressive look with out saying "hey I am a redneck!"

What size are your tires?

Reave1, you truck looks sweet. Two questions. What lifting have you done, a leveling kit? or more? Also what size are the tires your running?

Sweet Ride.

Thanks

Believe it or not, no lift or leveling. The tires are 285/70/R17's , I plan to do a leveling kit, but for driveablity it is not needed. I just like the leveled look! I have also used the hypertech programmer, K&N cold air, and flowmaster 40series muffler. Next will be leveling kit, custom two tone leather, and navagation. She is my pride and joy

More questions

Did you just replace your muffler with the Flowmaster or did you get a catback system?

Hey JS66, I like the look of your truck you did a great job. No more nose down. Did you add any block in the rear? I would personally add a taller tire and change the rims. I love Reave1 pro comps 17 x 8 wheels. I spoke with the local shop today and he qouted me a price to install the daystar 2.5 front with a rear block for $525. I could go for the 6" lift but thats over $2000. However for a 3" lift which Subliminal wrote is under $1000, that could be a possibility. The question is when will this kit be available? The look I'm trying to achieve is that aggressive stance, like a Pro Comp type wheel mated to Dick Cepek F-c II tires (33"). I want to feel that I'm no longer driving a nose down wimpy 4x4. Get me elevated with rims and tires that ROAR! Am I the only Ford owner who feels this way? C'mon people help me out!

Nose down is definitely submissive so I put a leveler in front too. Added 20" Eagle 178's with 33" Nitto Terra Grapplers. Some don't like the "big wheel" look, but I think they'll look way cool with a 6" lift and 35's. See gallery.

Reave1, your truck is a beauty.

What wheels are those? Weld? Those look like the ones I wanted to order, I like them now.

Also how do those MTs ride? I have a set of BFG ATs ready to go on, but now I am back and forth on the MTs again.

Thank you porschbreath,
I got the tires and wheels at a local tire shop in Riverside, great service and fair price compared to what the going rate at the chains was. They are LT305/55/R20 (right at 33"). Tires were around $210 each + tax. I've had them on teh truck about 4 months so far. Not cheap, but I have had no vibration and tire wear is extremely good so far.

The BFG's ride very smooth, I keep 30psi in then tire, and had a pro balance them with a .0001 capability machine. The tread has a huge influence on the balancing, and if the machine cannot calculate that you ought to start pissing in the wind. Check back tommorow, beacuse I will be posting new pics of my truck in the gallery. I just recently added a Good Mark 4" steel cowl induction hood to the black beauty.

Take a look at my gallery. I have a 2 1/2" leveling kit. Mickey Thompson Baja Claw Radials 33 12.50 r17 on Eagle Alloys 17 x 9. I love the look of the truck, but it's just a matter of time before she will get lifted. On the Mickey Thompson Classics, I tried to get them too, but I called everywhere even Mickey Thompson and they hadn't come out yet for our lug pattern. Good Luck!
