Well.....my fan stopped working. Its hot right now...and I need my A/C. So when I turn up the A/C, or just the fan..... nothing happens. So I opened the hood, gave the blower a SMACK, and it works. I get in the car...the air is flowing nicely again. BUT......its happening everytime now. I'll go back to my truck in 10 minutes, start it up...no fan. Open hood...give it a ring, and it works.
I'll be clear...turning the air flow adjuster from low to high does nothing. There is nothing. Best I get is to put it on vent and drive real fast.
Blower motor, plain and simple. Brushes are worn out and eventually smacking it will not get it to start.
Easy fix and universal motors are available from most auto supply houses. Just need to change/splice the power connections and transfer the squirrel cage fan. My replacement would work both directions depending on how you wired it and as luck and 50/50 chance have it , I got it wrong the first time.
