Factory built 1940 COE 3-door

I went to an auction today, and saw a 1940 ford COE truck that had four doors, although the drivers side rear door did not open. I was just wondering if the factory built these, or if they were modified by a company after they came from the factory. There are pictures in my gallery of it, along with some of the other fords at the auction.

That truck would make an interesting project. The missing door would be a problem. Looked like a good auction, nice solid stuff, how were prices?

What a cool piece. Would make a really unique planter box.........

You just gotta know, there is somebody out there who whold pay $15.00 a pound for that cab.

Most of the stuff seemed to go pretty cheap, with the 36 pickup and model A going for way more than i thought they were worth. the four door had the other door in the cab, it just wasn't on the hinges.
