Blown Beast (The monster within revisited)
I got a 331 that makes serious power and I recently bought a "mini" blower and a new set of heads. The heads I got are Vic Jr's 210 cfm runners 2.05 and 1.6 valves also a new bumpstick tailored more towards supercharging. I haven't installed the parts yet and I'm starting to have reservations about doing it. I am not doubting my mechanical abilities, I 'm wondering if there is such a thing as too much power. The numbers are speculated, according to the Desktop dyno, to be north of the 600hp mark.
The motor now has around 425 ponies churning under the hood and pulls down an 8.9 in the eighth mile. Needless to say I have surprised a few people at the lights. BTW the vehicle is a 68 F100 SWB.
THe heads on it now are Roush 200 cast iron heads, I think what I'll do is put the Vic Jr's on and return the blower and cam to the local speed shop. The Vic Jr's have a 70 cc combustion chamber and my old Roush heads have a 64 cc chamber. Will this change affect the power output? I think combined with a single plane intake, this will give me all the power I need. It already lights up the tires like a top fuel dragster.
I never would have thought that I would say there is such a thing as too much power. Maybe I'm just getting old.
