How about 1GY-74547? That would be a '46 1 ton with a 6 cylinder.

Thanks Mtflat, I thought it might be a 47 engine and bell. The title says 42. Just fired it up today after sitting for about 17 yrs. A little smoke but not bad. I may have caused that by soaking the cylinders with oil over night. Not sure how far I will go with it yet, you konw one thing always leads to another.

I think that is a '42 1 ton 6 cylinder. The number 74547 places it in the '42 production year, '46 6 cylinder vins run 227524-326417. '42's range 34801-227523

I stand corrected. My book starts with '46s and doesn't list the serial #s by year. Out of curiosity Gary, what is the range for 47?

The 47 range is from about 326418-414366 for the G series 6 cylinder, and 5012-9038 for the H series engine. V8's run 1412708-2071117.

Soso, any other numbers on the tag? Canadian models had a different system than the US built models.
