When I first got my '97, the rear door locks would not work from the switch or the remote alarm keyfob. The fronts worked fine. I noticed that if I pushed the lock/unlock button in the same direction several times, the rear locks would finally inch their way down or up. I removed the inner door panels and the vapor barrior and lubricaed all of the movable parts connected to the door locks with a penetrating lubricant, I forget the name but it was like WD-40. I also lubed the door latch and all the rods connected to it (inside the door). I tried the switch again, and everything worked! That was 6 months ago and all is still working perfect.
BR350, that the same thing I've got... keep bumping and they will work. Perhaps It's the cool air harding the factory lube. Clean and lube, the answer to so many of life's little problems.

You got it! I noticed that the factory seemed to use a rather heavy grease originally, or someone did anyway. The solvent in the penetrating spray on disolved the old grease and now they just snap up and down like the fronts do. After you do the lube job, have someone grab the lock shaft and "help" it up and down as you push the electric lock button. Make sure they pull it all the way up and puch it all the way down. After a few cycles, it should work the lube in and all will be well I'm betting.
The actuator on my rear lift gate was frozen up hard, had to keep lubing it while reaching inside to manually operate it until it loosened up. Been working fine every since!
