Hey Guys! Anyway, I found the source of my rattle that drove me nuts. In between the two front bumpers of my XLT superCrew theres this pretty good size rubber peice which is right under the transmission radiator I think (that small radiator that comes with the tow package.) Anyway at speeds, it flops all over the place and you can hear it inside the cab, so I took the entire rubber area out of there thats inbetween the two front bumpers, that worked, and I don't hear this rattle anymore. SOOO now that I took it off, as you stand in front of the truck and look inbetween the bumpers, you can see that small raditor and all of it's connections. Obviously this will give it more weather when I drive the truck without that rubber being there. Is this a bad idea by me taking this off, or will this be fine and I don't have to worry about the raditor being damaged still? Please help! Thank u!!
I don't think it will damage the actual tranny cooler itself...but it may effect your tranny. That rubber flap thing helps direct air through the fins and therefore helps cool your tranny. I would guess that taking off the rubber really wouldn't make a huge difference...but I wouldn't take the chance considering how much $$ a new tranny would cost if you burned this one up. I would do what triton2002 said and try to "glue" it fast with some 100% silicone...especially if you do any towing with your ride.
All that rubber thing is there for is to help air flow??? I thought maybe it was to protect the radiator somehow, but I could never thought air was to do anything with it?? Is that a fact about that rubber making air flow?? It's still going to get just as much air wouldn't u think??
Listen to dewy-DON'T Remove it! It not only directs air flow to the trans cooler but throught the a/c condensor and radiator. They are critical to hvac performance and trans cooling as well as influence horsepower. Try to dampen whatever it is hitting against to make the buzz noise.

Basically your going to DIE if you dont fix it.
When i did my lower grill i accidently didnt put it back for like a week and it was just hanging there, no performance increase/decrease. Temp never changed, keep in mind i was running the diablo with real time stats constantly at the time. But i went at got some better push pins and hammered those suckers in and i dont think i will ever be able to take it off now.
