gasping noise
I have a 2002 explorer with a 4.0 v6 when I step on the gas there is a gasping sound it sound like it is coming from the vacum system that operates the heating and A/c controls. any one had this and if so any ideas how to fix the sound.

I had this happening intermittently and haven't been able to find anything wrong yet. But if yours is doing it all the time, you may want to drop the glove box and take a look behind the dash for a loose vaccuum line. If you haven't tried this already, just open the glove box and you'll see a little tab/stopper that keeps it from flopping down. Just push on that tab and it will drop all the way down and you can see pretty good behind the dash. If you can't find any obvious leaks, you'll probably have to look at getting behind the vent selection **** where all the lines attach to see if one is loose.
