Aluminum Lariat rims

Aluminum Lariat rims
I have a 2002 F-250 diesel with the 5 hole Lariat rims. It was in accident a few months ago and scraped up one of the rims. It wasn't bent, so the body shop said they sent it out to be cleaned up. The scratch was gone and it looked great. However, when it came back, it was very noticeably shinier than the other 3. I cannot get a straight answer from the body shop as to what they did to it. One of the guys says it is a brand new rim as they changed their mind about cleaning up the other one. But, the manager said it is not. Is there any kind of a clear coat finish on these rims that when taken off makes it look shiny? I know the old 10 hole Mustang rims were like that. I am wondering if they may have polished it and in turn taken off that clearcoat? What makes me think this is that the brake dust does not come off as easy as the other 3. I am just looking for any answers as to what anyone thinks might have happened. If the clearcoat (if any) was taken off to make this look shiny, what does everyone recommend doing to make the other 3 look like this. I have tried everything from polishes, rubbing compound, protective polymer sealants, etc. Nothing has changed them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've been banging my head against the wall trying to figure this out and I cannot find any answers anywhere else in this forum. THANKS!!!
