I want to change the gearing on my F-250SD rear-end, but the transmission shops I've stopped in have left me unimpressed with their ability to do quality rear-end work. Does anyone in the Atlanta area have any suggestions on where to go, or where they had similar work done that was done well?
Moving here to Atlanta recently I have no idea. Though there are places that do only rear ends in the phone book. There are some 4x4/racing shops that do rear end work too. One 4x4 shop gets repeated top quality ratings in 4Wheeler magazine every year from the readers. They are out by the Marietta way? I woudl hunt that shop down.
I would not bring anything to most transmission shops including a transmission, fwiw.
You might consider contacting a class 7/8 truck shop that does axle work too. Guys that work in those shops, especially a factory shop such as Mack are usually top notch at many things including rear ends. Find one that makes driveshafts too. They usually have a full machine shop.
