A sad sad night. Time to say goodbye.

Driving out with my girl tonight. Stopped at a red turn signal to make a left turn. It was about 9 45 (friday) and no one was stopped on the opposite side. The light turned green, i wasn't at a complete stop, it turned as soon as i got near it, and started to make my turn. There was a gray monte carlo somewhat in the distance, looked like he was just slowing down from a distance to the light, so i proceded to make my turn. He did not stop, and ran the light. I saw him coming (at about 40mph). There was nothing i could do to get out of his way, i slammed on the gas in 1st to try and get out of his way but i couldn't make it. He slammed into the passanger side of my truck at about 40. My truck went up into the air, did a 180 and came to a stop. He left 75 feet of skid marks that started....10 feet before the stop line on the light. Everyone was ok, she was shaken up and i went with her to the hospital where she got her neck checked out. Shes fine but has a couple bumps and bruises. Thank GOD FOR THAT. I think she will be pretty sore tomorrow morning though. I am ok, i have no injuries. The passanger in the other car hit his head on the dashboard but is doing okay. The driver was fine. The driver had just got his license, and goes to my high school. When i was at the hospital and talking to my dad, he told me that there were no skid marks from my truck, that i was airborn most of the time. My driveshaft was hanging on the ground which separated at the yoke in the middle before the center support bearing when the truck flexed. My whole frame is bend, the truck bed, and whole side of the truck has damage to it. Snaped the spring perch right off. My baby is gone. I've seen guys on here say they got in an accident and that their truck is gone, i never thought that i'd be one to have to come on here and say this. It was my first truck and its done. Don't get me wrong, i didnt care about my truck until i left the hospital and everything was ok. But i'm sitting at home 3 hours later and thinking about how i'll never get to drive her again. I just can't believe that this has happened.

Glad everyone was ok. The truck may be missed, but you can buy another truck.

Mustang,
Sorry about your truck. BUT, read the post on "fallen Marine". It can help put things in perspective. Nobody was badly injured and you can buy another truck. The Marine guy can't.
Good luck on your search for a replacement ride!

Yeah, i'm extremely happy that everyone is ok. A truck is replaceable but lives are not. Especially since i was riding with someone i really care about. I wouldn't want to have seen anything happen to her. I seriously think that because my truck was lifted, it saved us from severe injury. If my truck was as low as it used to be, i think she would have been seriously injured because the car would have hit more of the body, and hit her. The middle of their car, hit the backseat's right side (supercab). Since it was lifted, the frame took most of the hit and their car mostly went underneath mine, lifting it off the ground. Just happy that everyone is ok. Now i have to find a new ride. I don't know if i should get a bronco, new truck, or maybe even a mustang.

sorry about your truck bud. but im glad no one was hurt. you can rebuild your truck now into a mean off-roader but if it's too badly damaged you can't re-register it for road use

Mustang,

I know how you feel. I lost a 69 f-250 ranger that I had poored my heart and soul into in much the same way.:-X23 But, If I would not have lost it I would never have bought my Bronco or my 72 f-250 which are now my daily driver and toy.

Chin up,

dj

Was the other driver insured?

You may actually be in a position to get a better truck, think about it. A few extra bucks along with the insurance settlement, and there you are...

I don't know about getting a mustang, it sounds to me like having a truck saved both of your lives!

-And people wonder why I'm lifting my own truck...

I said it once, and here I repeat myself: I'd rather be on top in a bad situation, than mingled with a fool in the remains of their supposed race car.

Not that the other guy was street racing, probably just wasn't paying attention.

Glad you're both okay!

Is the other kids car totalled? I'd hope so. I hope the law doesn't let that kid drive for a while.

Glad you and your girl are safe.

mick460- he admitted right away that he ran the ran the red light, i left in the ambulance so i would say he got one.

Greywolf- yes he is insured.

Yes, his car is completely totalled. Mine has a lot less damage to it. I didnt even look at it his closely i was more worried about other things but his front end was gone. At the very least, i can be proud of her, she took a chevy down with her! (88' monte carlo).

I just went down and took a bunch of pictures of my truck, and his car. I never got to really look at his car, but i looked at it and WOW, his car is trashed. I took a bunch of pictures of his, you guys wouldn't believe that anyone survived. I'll post them when i get them developed. Me and my friend spit a few on his seat for good measure.

Mustang, there's a bright side to everything

Seriously, though, I'm really glad no one was hurt. Take care and good luck finding a new toy, I mean truck.
