Dead tranny

OK here is my story, My auto tranny from my 88 b2 is dead. guy says 1900 to rebuild , i say no way. What other cheaper options do i have, how hard to change over to a manuel? i thought about getting a used one but how long will that last? please tell me some options and how hard are they to install

Any chance you fell up to rebuilding it yourself? Many that have tackled this themselves say that, as long as you don't mess with the pump, the A4LD isn't too hard to overhaul yourself. You might check down in the transmission forum and see if this might be a viable option for you.

I rebuilt my 88 trany two years ago. Money will be needed. Keep it clean, read first, go slow get the ATSG book on it. (800 245 7722) And install a A4LD shift improvement kit. Never had one apart before that but it went well. And never had a problem. Knock on wood.
