Rear brakes on a '42

I recently pulled my brake system apart on my '42 Ford 1 1/2 ton. I have a splitter on my rear axle that connects the flexible hose (which connects to the steel line coming from the master cylinder) to the lines going to the rear wheels. One side of my splitter is stripped out. I have taken it to many parts places and have had no luck in getting a new one. I can't even get a straight answer out of anyone as to why it is such a hard part to come by - i.e. are splitters uncommon, is it the size, what is it?

The threads going out to the rear wheels is a different thread than the incoming line I have found out.

Where can I get this part, or what can I do to get parts and make it all work?

Also, does anyone know how the e-brake is supposed to work on a '42 Ford 1 1/2 ton? No lines to the rear wheels and no band around the driveshaft? Maybe they just threw an anchor!

Thanks!

Scott

In my home town Ac Delco carries them and many other. The sizes shouldn't be that hard to get. Some places have rings of those nut and bolt things that tells you what sized of threads you have to make searching easier. Ac has adapters here that can be used to mat different size threads.

About the e-brakes , the only place I've seen them on the really big trucks is right on the tail of the tranny with the lever bolted right onto the side. So maybe someone swapped the tranny with no regauard to the e-brake.

Good luck!

Clayton
