'29 Model A

hey guys, just asking a question here for my ol man, he has a 29 Model A and everytime we shift from 2nd to 3rd or vice versa, the gears grind, he has changed all the bearings in the tranny and fluids, the gears themselves seem good. i know that there isnt any syncromesh gears back then but do we have to just live with it and keep double clutching?

Does it grind when you double clutch? And yes, you will have to live with double clutching, unless you swap out the tranny. Also, you didn't say if you checked the clutch petal linkage.

Say, something just crossed my mind. I heard that the model T's had something like 900 weight transmission fluid in them, haven't heard about model A's though. So do you know if the right fluid is in there?
