Where is the best place to install a CB radio in a 2003 F150 SuperCab 4x4? I have captain's chairs, so my center counsel is huge and I was thinking about bolting it to the front of that. I'm basically looking for a semi-easy solution.
in my 95 & 97, i found the best plasc was mounting the cb on the roof, if you dont have a overhead console, what i did was remove the visors and clip that holds them, i took two pieces of metal, about 6inches long, 1/2 inch wide , predrill holes for the cb mounting braket,in the metal pieces the size of screws, get two clips,(the type that holds sheet metal together)to run the screws thru, now for the funpart you can slip your hand in the roof panel, by the wind sheild, you will have a tight fit but you find the roof gives a little, slip the metal pieces in, hold in place then attach the cb bracket to the metal pieces, this spreads the weight across, the card board roof, next run your wire along the top then down tthru the trim,to the dash, theres a gap there along the dash ,run it to the fuse box, done right you wont see anywires showing, reinstall the visors, now put cb in place,be sure to put a inline fuse at both ends, its a great location, the speaker points down and is close enough to hear without crankin it, ive gone off road and driven some rough detroit roads, it stayed in place plus some one cant eaily see it, and its out of the way,oh run the ant. wire the same way but down thru floor, there's a rubberplug somewhere to run it out side, hope this helps, im using a uniden pc76xlw with weather alert great radio, peaked&tuned, lets you know when to avoid tornadoes, bad storms :-staun

Believe it or not, there is no "official" language of the United States. It just so happens that English is the number one language spoken, and Spanish is the second most spoken language... Nonetheless, there is only one post answering my question on where to put a CB radio. I don't care if you stopped using one when you got rid of your bell-bottoms (which is funny because bell-bottoms are 'in' again). So, where is the best place to mount the antenna? I think I know where I want to put the radio, but where should I put the antenna?
Are most of the members here [deleted]? I just joined this group, and I will be more than happy to leave if this is the general mentallity of this group. Some of you folk are one step up the food chain from bananas.
as to where to put the radio ant. they say the highest part of the vehical for best reception, but put it where you think is best, asto what raytown said ,look if you cant take alittle ribbin, weell.........hmmmm .....i cant think of a good comeback right now oh wait its done in fun.... ........ but if yoy decide to stay glad to haveyouhere. but as to me i take no offence and dont mean to give any. i put my ant under my chin and open mouth so it will transmit farther it really works , i learned about in another thread that i read here

generally the magnetic roof mounts seem to get the best reception. If you put a soft piece of cloth between the magnet and the cab, it shouldn't mess up the paint.
As to the radio itself, it is all in personal preference. You say that you have the bucket seats with the stand alone console? The front of it between the console and the dash would probably be the best place. You should be able to hide the wires there and it shouldn't be in the way.
And yes, I know that bell-bottoms are coming back. It's just ashame that they we ever invented in the first place. I guess it was to hide ugly shoes!!
And as for you RaytownF150, chill buddy. This is a friendly site. We do kid each other from time to time, but we also give the best info on the net. There are alot of good people on here and I have yet to see a question go unanswered.
There are a lot of actual Ford service techs and service advisors on this site along with the thousands of us who have real world experience with all sorts of problems, so if you have a question or problem, 99 times out of 100 you will get the info you need here. Granted, it may take a day or two sometimes because not everybody is on here at the same time.
Anyway, here is a big welcome from all of us at FTE We hope that you stick around and enjoy the site.

i have a 3' magnet mount arial works great on the road but it will fall down when it hits anything (branches when offroading, or the roof or the parking garage for you city folk) but the good thing is that you can just pull it off whenever you need to. As for the actual radio i put it right under the ash tray above the center hump (on my bronco) and mounted the mic right by my steering wheel
I don't have the console, but the 60/40 double bench in the front.
I put mine just below the double power outlets, using small interior panel screws to hold the bracket to the plastic. I fastened the mic clip to the bottom of the radio, and ran the wires under the carpet, behind the door molding and out the rear (extended cab) window.
The antenna is a small magnetic rubber ducky type.
Works just fine for the short ranges I need on the road.
