'97 F150 4.6 transmission service - found a "plug" lying loose in oil pan.
I'm doing a transmission filter/fluid change and I found a pale yellow, what appears to be a plug with a small 3/4 inch long stem on one end and a 5/8 inch dia. (+-) o-ring on the other.
Does anyone know what this is, and what it is for? I'm guessing after a close physical inspection that it is a plug for the dipstick tube used during factory assembly.
Oh no,your pisshotty valve came loose! I wish I had a camera to take pics of peoples face when they see that plug in the pan! You're right tho, used to plug the dipstick hole on the assembly line.
