PVC Valve 68 F100 360 FE 2V
Purchased to to replace. I am having oil consumption problems. The inlet to the preformed vacumn hose is to large for the new PCV valve, The vac hose is connected to the back of the 2V carb manifold plate. There is no elebow going from the old PCV valve it is piped straight to the pre formed vac hose. The old PCV looks like it was made from composite materials. No adapter was provided with the new part. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The FE has less than a 1,000 miles on a overhaul.

O'Reilly has a plastic line with 3/8 elbow and 3/8 hose on other end, then buy the hose adapter kit, it will have a 3/8 to 5/8 adapter I think, it's been awhile. If not they should have an adapter in their kit they keep by all the heater/fuel,vacuum hose that they cut.
yes this set up will work fine for a very long time
no matter what others say, been running this on an old oil sucking and burning 390 3/4 ton farm truck that gets the snot abused out of it.

Oil consumption on those old FE motors
I'd replace the valve stem seals and see how much better it gets (check the guide clearance while you have the spring off and the cylinder aired up)
Every one I have done, the seals were hard as a rock, and I still have people thanking me for advising and doing it
You sure could have ring trouble and excessive blowby, but replace those valve stem seals first
You can check the PVC operation and possible excessive blowby with a piece of paper placed over the valve cover vent at idle
That PCV should suck down enough oil vapor air to create a vacuum in the other valve cover
You hold the piece of paper over the other valve cover vent and see if it gets sucked close to the valve cover
It should slightly get sucked toward the valve cover if the PCV works and there is NOT excessive blow by
If the valve guides are worn, the seals will not work for the oil consumption for long

FE oil consumption
Do you have the original valve covers or after market ones? Many after market valve covers do not have baffles below the location where the PCV is plugged in and it just sucks oil right out the top of the cover.
