Battery
Hi all. So my 2019 350 only has 17k miles with a build date of 4/19 so the battery has to be at the end of its useful life cycle. There is currently no sign the battery is failing, but.. I am considering a AGM. Is there anything I would have to do to the truck or would it go right in? Thx for any input 👍

For my 2019 F250, when I switched the original battery to a better AGM, the swap physically is straight forward easy, and I let the truck sit unused overnight and everything works great. I did not do any special BMS reset.

The first indication that my batteries were going were that the truck was constantly going into sleep mode and terrible gassing that was rusting my hold down brackets which is why I upgraded to AGM.
On my 2022 I changed the charging profile to AGM and reset the BMS.
The charging profile for AGM is a little different than a flooded battery so to optimize the battery life I made the change. There are members here that haven’t bothered with no ill effects.
Resetting the BMS tells the truck it has a new battery and to back off on the charge. As a battery ages it becomes harder to charge as its internal resistance goes up as it ages so the computer compensates by charging the battery harder. Charging a new battery harder than necessary will shorten its life a bit.
How much of this applies to your ‘19 vs my ‘22 IDK. My wife’s 2016 Mazda has no BMS and doesn’t have multiple charging profiles but it eats batteries every 3 years so I am going to try an AGM in it next time.
