How to find the year of a 5.0 motor?
Hi all,
I am trying to identify the year of a used 5.0 motor that came out of F-150. Anyone know how I can do that? If I get the number of the block would that help?

Carb or EFI? Look for tags on the top of the engine. Carb, ignition anything up top.
Look for casting numbers on the intake.
The block numbers and date code are hidden down near the starter.
See what you find.

Sticker on the valve cover should have a calibration
That calibration number will start with the year
The same calibration number should be in the door jamb somewhere on it's own serarate sticker
