Anyone know roughly the average lifespan of a water pump on a 2000 f150 4.6 ?
Are they known to fail ?
Lots of info on searches saying they fail around the 100 000 mile mark.
Right, the cleaner you keep the coolant, the longer they last
My 1997 5.4 is basically the same pump (they interchange)
Mine has almost 200k on it and is 29 years old, still works and no leak or overheat
Course, I keep nice new green coolant in mine, I replace it every 3 years or so
My Screw had the original at 200k when I redid the cooling system. I replaced due to age and the system was just full of hard tap water and rust. Expedition was similar.
Both pumps came from Autozone. I think I bought the Screw in 2020 and the Expedition in 21. No issues. Both run a coolant filter due to the residual caca in the systems after a serious flush.
I will change the coolant.
This truck is not driven hard or for a lot of annual kms.
This would be year 4 on my current coolant.
My coolant never went over 5 yrs unchanged.
It always comes out looking clean.
I probably have 30 000 KM's on this current coolant in the system.
I never let my coolant get dirty.
