I just completed An ABS delete on my 1996 bronco 5.8/E4od and now have no voltage to VSS pigtail. I have moved wire 39 to 22 And 14 to 21 via the ABS connector. I should have five volts reference on lite green / yellow wire but zero.
What am I missing?
Thanks
The ‘94 had four wheel ABS which worked much better than the RABS system. The speedometer and transmission use the signal from the sensor to operate correctly. How and why did you delete it?
Reasoning is what's missing
You said you just "completed" an ABS delete and now no power to the VSS
That is NOT completed
And you should have NO abs connector now
So, you need to turn that 96 Bronco into a 92 without 4 wheel ABS
That will require a whole truck worth of rewire
Back to reason
Would have been easier to work with the defective ABS IMO
Throw the light away and drive the truck is the easiest solution when the HCU motor fails
I used to replace the HCUs on those 95-96 Broncos when they were new and they did have some troubles

You re-pinned the connector based on what information saying you could just move around some wires? RABS is a different system from four wheel ABS so did looking at the two wiring diagrams confirm that is possible?

There was a code set for a bad front solenoid in the ‘94 Bronco which testing confirmed. It was no more difficult to replace the HCU than a master cylinder and doesn’t need any special equipment to bleed it. That was about 10 years ago so maybe it’s hard to find a replacement part. I don’t know but there has to be some way to get it working.
I'm pretty sure that HCUs from some mid- to late-'90s Explorers can be used as replacements, maybe with a change of electrical connectors. For at least a few years after '96 the ABS electrical control unit in Explorers was the same one as in the '96 Bronco.
