223 bellhousing

1964 3/4 4x4... putting in a fresh rebuilt 61 223. I need the bell housing to fit the 223/T98. Part # TCAK-7505-B. I'm in eastern Nebraski. Willing to drive a ways to get one. Thanx

I think this is a case of part number versus engineering ID number. The engineering ID number often works better for bellhousings since they are almost never in a box with a part number on it but the engineering ID was usually cast into them. I'm seeing a few on eBay.

Those bellhousings sell for around $50 in salvage yards. Give this place a call Farritor Auto Parts, Broken Bow, NE 308-872-6411 or 6412. There are others out there, but these are the closest to you. If that don't work out call Windy Hill in New London, MN 320-354-2201

An observation from your post in the 67-72 forum. The 223 I6 used the Load-O-Matic distributor it has to be paired with the correct carburetor that has a spark control valve. Putting a 3-carb manifold on a 223 will require that you have a dual advance type of distributor. I think it is possible to convert a 300 I6 distributor to work on a 223 but it isn't plug and play.

Once life slows down a bit that is where I was going to call. Its about an hour away from me. Been there before looking for 36 5 window parts. Hoping their price will be reasonable. I am half tempted to build a bellhousing to fit T5. Did that once before on a 69 big window. It made that 292 a lot of fun.

Very interesting. AI told me B8Y-7505-B, but getting burnt from AI before, and not seeing this number anywhere, I thought it was bunk. Guess I'll be asking about both numbers? ...

Just thought of this. My middle son has a 223/T98 with bell housing number TCAK-7505-B. And I had to take a look at it. The numbers on all of the bellhousings are astounding. Who knew there were so many different ones, especially during the 50's.
Like I said AI said the B8Y number.
With this knowledge..... could Ford have built these bellhousings,.... and with later updates created new numbers? Or were some xcross overs?
I guess I'll continue with my search for both numbers... but will be influenced more for the TCAK as I know it does fit, as I've seen one.

Ford stopped putting part numbers on most things after 1956, but many parts instead had what they called the engineering ID numbers cast into or stamped on many parts. The B8Y-7505-B is the part number but like I say that's not going to be on the part itself. The engineering ID number for that same part number is the TCAK-7505-B and that's what you'd find cast into the bellhousing. So AI isn't wrong, it's giving the correct part number, it's just not very useful especially with cast iron bellhousings that almost never came in a box. There were exceptions to this, too. Some aluminum bellhousings came in a box.

Part number for this guy is C3AZ-7976-D

Engineering ID number is C1SP-7976-A

Sometimes the Master Parts Catalog shows both numbers like this page of wiper switches. Part numbers are far right column. But under the DESCRIPTION column anything starting with "marked" is the engineering ID numbers. Sometimes the two numbers are very similar to each other and sometimes they are not so similar.

It's a critical concept to understand with Ford parts.
