Four wheel brake job

Four wheel brake job
My 2020 Limited is almost at 65K on the clock and getting very close to needing a brake according to last year's state inspection report from the dealer.
So, I called said dealer just a minute ago and I was quoted $1000 for a four wheel brake job which includes new rotors and pads all around. I asked t he service writer about turning the pads and her decided to be a smart azz with me and stated that he could do just the pads for $500 and I'll be back in for the rotors later for another $600.
So I called a shop that I've used before to see and he said pretty much the same but most likely using higher quality components than Ford. That I can attest to as they only do brakes, CV axles, struts, alignments.
In my younger days I would do this pretty easy job myself but I'm too disabled and banged up now to do this work.
I didn't realize that we've evolved to throw away rotors without at least one turning. If the brakes could last 100K miles then my argument wouldn't hold water.

Hi Tim!. Yeah, run away from that dealer.... if the rotors are not warped, there is no reason to turn them either... just sanding the rotors is all that is needed. FYI- Carboteh which is the linings I have run for 30+ years, in writing, they recommend not even turning the rotors if you are just replacing their linings-

The fronts were starting to shudder during heavy braking. The dealer and the brake shop both said that there isn't enough metal on the OE rotors to turn them in a way that they'll last. Sadly, I do believe that.
So anyway, the job was done by the independent shop, the car feels great, my bride is happy and I'll never have to mess with the brakes on this one again.

But, it's little things like this that add up over time like death from a thousand paper cuts. This has only served to make me even more suspicious of even wanting another new vehicle. What else on new cars is completely "throw away" and not serviceable?
OR,
Is this the auto industry grooming us to think that we need to change vehicles every 50-60K miles just to avoid costly maintenance?
