Modulator shaft

When in removed the pin/shaft from moduator when I removed engine/trans I failed to notice the machined groove. Does it matter which way it goes in? 1980 F350 400, C6

I don't know for sure but I doubt it. It's just a pin to push on the diaphragm, so.
