My son in law is considering a 2021 expedition max that i would call "a builder". It was in a front end crash and has been fixed. We have seen before and after pictures. Left front fender was not sctracted. Hood , front grill area and rf fender. They are telling him that the front sensor was replaced. from the pictures I don't qustion that. They are not able to get the cruise to work and believe it needs reprogramed at a dealership. That is also believable since signal was broken. I have not handled anything this new , but it makes sense to me. Is there something that we may be overlooking. It is about 4 hrs away so we are trying to get a little homwork done first.
Thank you for your help
There is a good probability that if it has adaptive cruise, and the radar was replaced, that it needs to be calibrated/programmed at a dealer or someone with the computer functionality who can do it. If that radar isn't functional, the cruise will absolutely not work. Ran into this a few times on my wife's Expedition, the mounting seems to be a weak point in the system - the first time it happened my FIL had borrowed it, gone through a touch-style car wash, and the radar came out of its mount and the cruise shut off. It is also susceptible to ice build-up if you live in a northern climate - ice build up will interfere with the signal and make it turn off for a while until the ice is removed.
Will it work with the adaptive cruise control system turned off?
is it possible to turn it off in the expedition? The focus loaners allowed you to turn it off in the menus.
That would be a good question about a 2021, but I know on my wife's 2024, if there is a fault with the radar, NO cruise will work, even if you go in and shut off adaptive cruise. Which is pretty darn annoying.
