Roof Repair or Replace?
I have a 1967 F-250 that I'm building. I have the cab off and stripped down and had it blasted. That has revealed all the holes this thing has. Of course the floor pans are rusted out and I already have replacement pans to go in.
My question is about the roof. When I got the truck, the roof had a dent in it. Not bad, like someone sat on it just above the back window and now it has a wave in it. I've pushed most of out, but it still has some wave that needs to be taken out. The second and more severe problem is, there is rust all the way around the roof where it meets the drip rails. Mostly just pinholes, but a few areas have strips of rust about 1 or 2 inches long. My question is, am I better off trying to repair this roof or should I cut the whole thing off and replace it with new metal? I've done some body work, but am still quite a novice. Helped a buddy replace his floor pans and that was an education. I do have the tools necessary, MIG welder, TIG welder etc, and I'm not afraid to dive in. I just don't have the experience to know whether repair or replace is best in this situation.
Would love to hear all opinions and suggestions. Thank.
